First Graders at Hirundo

Earlier this week our first graders enjoyed a field trip to Hirundo Wildlife Refuge located in Old Town, ME! They were exploring the outdoors while learning more about fall and the change of seasons. Our first graders made leaf collages, went on a nature hunt, learned about why leaves change color during this time of year, and looked for wildlife!

Some of our first graders were quoted saying:

"My favorite part was exploring nature because it's fun seeing animals. We saw chipmunks and salamanders!"

"I liked when we got to have lunch all together for a picnic."

"I liked being a scientist when we were learning about animals that change color when it gets colder."

"It was cool seeing the salamander and the path where the beaver crosses the land to water!"
