Last week our first graders invited their family and friends to come in for their animal research presentations! They showed off the books they wrote and illustrated and their scientific drawings of their chosen animals. This project was part of their publishing writing unit. They went through the process of researching, taking notes, drafting a piece of writing, editing and revising their work, and then creating a polished book to publish! They were so excited to share their hard work with their guests. One first grader said they loved getting to answer questions about their animals during their presentation time. Another student said they loved getting to illustrate their book. A third first grade student said they enjoyed finding facts about their animals!
